Senior Cost Estimator

Role Introduction 

As our Senior Estimator, you will serve as a primary point of contact for our clients to coordinate and communicate on multiple projects. You will be working in our Client Programs (CP) Market, where you will have the unique opportunity to work on global and national building programs with a focus on project and client leadership through all phases of design and delivery. Every day you will prepare conceptual, schematic, and design development estimates, performs quantity surveys, perform bid reviews, and complete construction trend research. To thrive you must have commercial construction estimating experience and excellent communication skills.

What your day will look like:

  • Serves as primary contact person for the client when required 
  • Communicates and coordinates multiple projects with the client, architect PM, engineers, and contractors
  • Performs detailed takeoffs of materials and trades for all CSI divisions as required to complete estimates and to support senior staff.
  • Prepares labor, material, and equipment pricing research and applies to estimates.
  • Provides conceptual, preliminary, schematic, and design development estimates for new construction, remodels, small infrastructure type projects. Expected to provide detailed breakdowns for all major CSI divisions.
  • Prepare detailed narratives for estimates to convey scope of work to client.
  • Remain up to date on trends in the industry regarding estimating methods, technology, methods of construction and materials, wages, and cost escalation.
  • Assists other team members with questions pertaining to ways, means, methods, or costs
  • Assesses comprehensive scope of work for each project
  • Evaluates and manages site investigations for each project
  • Supervises estimator to “package” the final estimates
  • Provide QA of estimates prior to deliver to clients.
  • Provides impromptu spreadsheets and cost comparisons at the client’s request
  • Updates Cost Management’s historical database
  • Performs bid review
  • Perform change order review 
  • Meet with project managers, consultants, and clients as required to acquire necessary information for estimates, bids, and budgets. This would include drawings, specifications, reports, clarification of scope etc.
  • Clarifies any discrepancies; obtains missing information from architects, engineers, clients
  • Provide value engineering suggestions to team during the estimation process.
  • Visits building sites for clients as required.
  • Attends client team management and project kickoff meetings as required
  • Attends all Cost Management team meetings or functions as required
  • Produces accurate and consistent work 
  • Adheres to assigned schedule
  • Monitors time spent on all projects to ensure profitability and efficiency
  • Meets with client to review estimates and proposals and makes recommendations for value engineering solutions.
  • Meets with client to review bids and makes appropriate recommendations for cost savings and contractor bid evaluation
  • Exhibits professional development and growth 
  • Demonstrates an understanding of architecture, construction, and related sub-trades
  • Effectively trains junior staff

  • Minimum 10 years of commercial construction estimating experience
  • Onscreen takeoffs with Bluebeam or equivalent software
  • Demonstrates an understanding of architecture and construction
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field

The Product Manager manages the complete product lifecycle, from feature planning through implementation and launch. Focus is on execution of the product roadmap and the product tools, services and support that will improve the productivity of clients, business teams and partners. The right candidate will develop a deep understanding of the product functioning, create channels for getting customer feedback, prioritizing it, and identify ways to continuously improve the product. This is an impact role that will work cross functionally and with the leadership team to help build the right user experience. Work is cross functional with Program Development, Process and Communications, Rhythm of Business and Professional Services teams to build functionality supporting team and client needs.

What your day will look like: 

• Collaborate with stakeholders, PMs and designers to refine high level plans into detailed requirements for development projects.

• In partnership with internal teams, define and own roadmaps for the integration of MG2’s custom product suite and third-party solutions.

• Develop and support the firm’s global tech infrastructure that supports our products and customer experiences.

• In partnership with the COO, develop business and technical requirements management of product functionality, availability, performance and metrics.

• Make functional and technical design recommendations that best solve the business needs.

• Develop the team’s rigor and adherence to best practices in SDLC and Agile practices.

• Coordinate feature release communications and technical documentation.

• Maintain regular communication with key team members and manage team communication channels – leverage this network to validate requirements and use multiple sources to confirm assumptions.

• Build ‘trusted advisor’ relationships with senior business leaders, as well as foster collaboration between technology and professional services teams.

• 4+ years’ experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner, Business Analyst or relevant experience.

• 4 year degree in business, marketing, and or other applicable degrees.

• 4+ years of customer-facing product development and product management, including defining, launching and optimizing product and service experiences.

• Proven ability to assess technical solutions, problem solve, perform and utilize data analytics, and develop reporting tools.

• Experience delivering technical presentations.

• Experience gathering requirements across diverse areas and users and converting them into product solutions.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and goals. 

• Proficiency in project and team collaborative software systems.

As our Design Principal, Industrial Sector, you will have daily direct client contact and will be expected to lead the building program through project execution for light industrial projects. What your day will look like:

  • Leads and manages both the client and project teams through the overall project development process from project conception phase through the design phases (PD,SD,DD), development of construction documents and continues to actively collaborate with the delivery project manager from construction documents through construction administration, reporting to the client the project status throughout the life of the project.
  • Oversees all phases of the design process, taking a primary role from design development through construction administration
  • Leads the architectural building design process. Engages the design team, communicates the AHJ and client design expectations and assures the quality of the deliverables to the client.
  • Handles Quality Control of project documents. Is responsible for the deliverables to the client or AHJ.

As our Client Leader, you will be in daily direct client contact in which you will lead the Building Design & Project Entitlements process for several projects including new warehouse locations, building additions, and remodels. You will be working in our Client Programs (CP) Market, where you will have the unique opportunity to work on global and national building programs with a focus on project and client leadership through all phases of design and delivery. Every day you will act as the project leader, serve as the client single point-of-contact, and collaborate directly with the consultant team, while facilitating multiple projects through the pre-design, due diligence, space planning, budgeting, building design, and the project approvals process. What your day will look like:

  • Leads and manages both the client and project teams through the overall project development process from project conception phase through the design phases (PD,SD,DD) and continues to actively collaborate with the delivery project manager from construction documents through construction administration, reporting to the client the project status throughout the life of the project.
  • Leads the architectural building design process. Engages the design team, communicates the AHJ and client design expectations and assures the quality of the deliverables to the client.
  • Handles Quality Control of project documents. Is responsible for the deliverables to the client or AHJ.
  • Participates in construction costing, scheduling, and phasing with our internal Cost Management team, the general contractor and the client’s real estate and construction departments.
  • Directly negotiates with the client any scope change and additional services as required.
  • Is responsible for the project financials including invoice review and tracks progress in collections and communicates with client as necessary to collect any aging invoices.
  • Leads client & consultant communication and can speak with confidence and knowledge about the drawings and deliverables.
  • Focuses on team ownership and accountability of projects as well as team dynamics so as to grow communication proficiency with leadership team, client, and project team.
  • Ensures projects begin with a project plan, overall schedule and budget work plan in place.
  • Ensures clear milestones are established, communicated regularly with the client through weekly project status updates and results are achieved by the project team.

Role Introduction 

As our Estimator II, you will support the senior staff in all project related tasks such as comparisons, material and labor investigations, and other pricing needs and requirements. You will be working in our Client Programs (CP) Market, where you will have the unique opportunity to work on global and national building programs with a focus on project and client leadership through all phases of design and delivery. Every day you will prepare conceptual, schematic, and design development estimates, perform quantity surveys and provide value engineering suggestions to team during estimation process. What your day will look like:

  • Performs detailed takeoffs of materials and trades for all CSI divisions as required to complete estimates and to support senior staff.
  • Prepares labor, material, and equipment pricing research and applies to estimates.
  • Provides conceptual, preliminary, schematic, and design development estimates for new construction, remodels, small infrastructure type projects. Expected to provide detailed breakdowns for all major CSI divisions.
  • Prepare detailed narratives for estimates to convey scope of work to client.
  • Review estimates with Senior staff for comments and QA.
  • Supports the team in all project related tasks such as comparisons, material and labor investigations, and other pricing needs and requirements.
  • Provides impromptu spreadsheets and cost comparisons at the client’s request
