Interior Design Studio Lead

Role Introduction 

As our Interior Studio Lead you are a key member of MG2’s leadership team and is recognized expert in the profession. You will be responsible for all aspects of the studio business operations and will collaborate directly with Market Leadership on the creation and implementation of strategic initiatives that support studio, market, and firm-wide goals. In this role, you will be involved in leading all aspects of leading the Interiors Studio at MG2. This includes overseeing project development and execution, supporting strong client relationships and maintaining consistently excellent quality standards of the work won and delivered by the interiors studio, primarily focused on the hospitality and multifamily sectors. You will lead and collaborate with other studio leads in design leadership, business development, staff development, project design and delivery, and the overall health of the business. You will provide guidance and direction as required to staff at all levels of the design practice including Studio Directors, Project Managers, Project Architects, and Designers, and should be actively engaged in firm-wide learning and development opportunities. In this role, you will be required to be NCIDQ certified, a licensed architect (ARE), and/or hold a professional PMP certification.

What your day will look like:

  • Set strategic direction for the Interiors Studio and contribute to the development of annual business plans. 
  • Develop long-term strategy for studio in collaboration with Market and Office leadership.
  • Develop and track annual studio budget, in collaboration with Studio Directors. 
  • Lead the strategic development & implementation of project execution tools. 
  • Collaborate with market leadership to develop and implement strategic plans and management best practices.
  • Lead the generation of proposals, RFP responses, and various business development initiatives.
  • Track all submitted proposals and pursuits. Actively engage in business development activities and collaborate with Market Leads on new opportunities. 
  • Establishes, supports, and strengthens both new and existing client relationships through direct client interaction and identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Collaborate with market leadership regarding acceptance of new work and strategic pursuits.  
  • Maintain overall responsibility for project team performance, including design and delivery of contracted work and management of internal and external resources.
  • Responsible for profitability and financial success of studio.
  • Actively contribute to firm-wide communications and cross market collaborations aimed at ensuring consistency and alignment firmwide. 
  • Responsible for development and assignment of project teams that can successfully execute project work and deliver excellence in design, technical expertise, and project management. 
  • Sets performance expectations with direct involvement in project/client pursuits and client management.
  • Meet regularly with Studio Directors and Team Leads to review project milestones and financial updates. 
  • Continuously review all internal and external risks and successfully implement risk mitigation strategies in alignment with the firm’s interests. 
  • Actively engage in the development and implementation of applicable internal Learning and Development programs and training. 
  • Cultivate a positive team atmosphere that provides opportunities for growth, collaboration, and sharing of new ideas and technology that will enhance the group’s expertise.
  • Partner with HR to create professional performance and development plans for staff within in the studio.
  • Actively participate in recruiting and onboarding of new staff. 

 We’re looking for someone who:

  • Bachelor or Master’s of Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
  • 20+ years of professional experience in a professional architecture firm.
  • NCIDQ certification, Architectural license, and/or PMP certification required.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, establishing new client relationships, and building a book of work.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams and clients during all phases of a project life cycle. 
  • Responsible for leading and promoting excellence in design, applying industry-leading expertise in hospitality and multi-family sectors.
  • Collaborates with Design Principals in leading projects with integrated interiors.
  • Leads teams in the execution of all project deliverables. Projects may be stand alone, brandable projects for interiors, or be executed in collaboration with other project teams 
  • Review and approve all conceptual design work to ensure deliverables are aligned with firm-wide expectations and design rigor standards
  • Overall management of design staff and internal design resources
  • Demonstrated success leading business operations and studio-wide financial management.
  • Experience with the development and implementation of business plans and financial goals.
  • Previous expertise with implementation and management of quality control process and procedures. 
  • Experience managing diverse studio groups while implementing both tactical and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated engagement in previous business development opportunities including strategizing and leading marketing proposals, RFP responses, and statements of qualifications. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staffing resources across internal markets and multiple teams including those in different physical locations. 
  • Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to lead large teams. 
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate conflict while managing through change.
  • Active engagement in the development and implementation of learning and development initiatives.

Role Introduction 

As our Design Principal, Industrial Sector, you will have daily direct client contact and will be expected to lead the building program through project execution for light industrial projects. You will be working in our Client Programs (CP) Market, where you will have the unique opportunity to work on global and national building programs with a focus on project and client leadership through all phases of design and delivery. Every day you will act as the project leader, serve as the client single point-of-contact, and collaborate directly with the consultant team. Our Industrial Sector portfolio includes logistics, manufacturing, aviation, data centers, and food processing. To thrive you must have a strong competency in governing codes and regulations, and an aptitude for delivery and construction.

What your day will look like:

  • Leads and manages both the client and project teams through the overall project development process from project conception phase through the design phases (PD,SD,DD), development of construction documents and continues to actively collaborate with the delivery project manager from construction documents through construction administration, reporting to the client the project status throughout the life of the project.
  • Oversees all phases of the design process, taking a primary role from design development through construction administration
  • Leads the architectural building design process. Engages the design team, communicates the AHJ and client design expectations and assures the quality of the deliverables to the client.
  • Handles Quality Control of project documents. Is responsible for the deliverables to the client or AHJ.
  • Participates in construction costing, scheduling, and phasing with our internal Cost Management team, the general contractor and the client’s real estate and construction departments.
  • Oversees development of construction documents and contract administration.
  • Coordinates and oversees work of consultants.
  • Directly negotiates with the client any scope change and additional services as required.
  • Is responsible for the project financials including invoice review and tracks progress in collections and communicates with client as necessary to collect any aging invoices.
  • Leads client & consultant communication and can speak with confidence and knowledge about the drawings and deliverables. 
  • Focuses on team ownership and accountability of projects as well as team dynamics so as to grow communication proficiency with leadership team, client, and project team.
  • Ensures projects begin with a project plan, overall schedule and budget work plan in place.
  • Ensures clear milestones are established, communicated regularly with the client through weekly project status updates and results are achieved by the project team.  
  • Actively engages in mentoring and apprenticeship opportunities and encourages the development of the junior staff. Always working to share their expertise and explain the ‘why’ to colleagues.
  • Travel (1-2-day trips) will be required for attendance at site meetings and presentations to various state and local jurisdictions.
  • Maintains consistent rigor around client and team communications. Holds regular meetings with the client and project teams to assure clarity of scope, that the schedule is being met and the deliverables are of a high quality.

  We’re looking for someone who:

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree of Architecture or Mechanical Engineering
  • Cold Chain experience is a must
  • Architectural licensure preferred
  • 15+ years of architectural & project design management
  • Demonstrated expertise in the industrial sector, with a focus on manufacturing or food processing, preferred.
  • Ability to travel, typically(1-2 day trips) will be required for attendance at site meetings and presentations to various state & local jurisdictions
  • Proven ability and confidence in being client facing and leading the project team including outside consultants and partners

  • A well-rounded fundamental comprehension of architectural building design, retail interior space planning, engineering, construction & sustainability practices.
  • Ability to research codes, ordinances and other jurisdictional requirements for a property and apply them to the design of a project.
  • Ability to manage project priorities, risks and to identify issues and proactively facilitate solutions to resolve them.
  • Ability to manage project scope, service fee agreements, schedule and communicate that to the project team.
  • Must be a driven and results-oriented professional that is comfortable in a decision-making role

The Product Manager manages the complete product lifecycle, from feature planning through implementation and launch. Focus is on execution of the product roadmap and the product tools, services and support that will improve the productivity of clients, business teams and partners. What your day will look like:

The GL Accountant is responsible for maintaining general ledger account reconciliations and subsidiary ledgers, accounts payable records, fixed asset schedules, daily bank reconciliations, tax filings, and year-end audit support. Daily responsibilities include depositing and applying cash receipts, accounts payable invoice entry and payment of invoices, providing backup documentation for project accountants.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

•General Ledger Accounting

  • Handles month-end, quarter-end and year-end closings. 
  • Ensures monthly and quarterly journal entries are posted in accordance with GAAP.
  • Handles consolidation of inter-company transactions and reconciliations, including foreign currency accounting.
  • Assists in GL account review to identify and explain variances.

  • Process weekly check runs.

  • Provide AP primary backup support during PTO periods. 

• Other Duties

  • Conducts daily banking and cash reconciliations.

Role Introduction 

As our Senior Estimator, you will serve as a primary point of contact for our clients to coordinate and communicate on multiple projects. You will be working in our Client Programs (CP) Market, where you will have the unique opportunity to work on global and national building programs with a focus on project and client leadership through all phases of design and delivery. Every day you will prepare conceptual, schematic, and design development estimates, performs quantity surveys, perform bid reviews, and complete construction trend research. What your day will look like:

  • Serves as primary contact person for the client when required

As our Client Leader, you will be in daily direct client contact in which you will lead the Building Design & Project Entitlements process for several projects including new warehouse locations, building additions, and remodels. You will be working in our Client Programs (CP) Market, where you will have the unique opportunity to work on global and national building programs with a focus on project and client leadership through all phases of design and delivery. Every day you will act as the project leader, serve as the client single point-of-contact, and collaborate directly with the consultant team, while facilitating multiple projects through the pre-design, due diligence, space planning, budgeting, building design, and the project approvals process.   • Leads and manages both the client and project teams through the overall project development process from project conception phase through the design phases (PD,SD,DD) and continues to actively collaborate with the delivery project manager from construction documents through construction administration, reporting to the client the project status throughout the life of the project.
  • Leads the architectural building design process. Engages the design team, communicates the AHJ and client design expectations and assures the quality of the deliverables to the client.
  • Handles Quality Control of project documents. Is responsible for the deliverables to the client or AHJ.
  • Participates in construction costing, scheduling, and phasing with our internal Cost Management team, the general contractor and the client’s real estate and construction departments.
  • Directly negotiates with the client any scope change and additional services as required.
  • Is responsible for the project financials including invoice review and tracks progress in collections and communicates with client as necessary to collect any aging invoices.
  • Leads client & consultant communication and can speak with confidence and knowledge about the drawings and deliverables.

As our Client Leader, you will be in daily direct client contact in which you will lead the Building Design & Project Entitlements process for several projects including new warehouse locations, building additions, and remodels. You will be working in our Client Programs (CP) Market, where you will have the unique opportunity to work on global and national building programs with a focus on project and client leadership through all phases of design and delivery. Every day you will act as the project leader, serve as the client single point-of-contact, and collaborate directly with the consultant team, while facilitating multiple projects through the pre-design, due diligence, space planning, budgeting, building design, and the project approvals process. To thrive you must have a strong competency in architectural building design, site planning, interior retail space planning, jurisdictional codes, sustainable practices, public presentations, and risk mitigation.

What your day will look like:

  • Leads and manages both the client and project teams through the overall project development process from project conception phase through the design phases (PD,SD,DD) and continues to actively collaborate with the delivery project manager from construction documents through construction administration, reporting to the client the project status throughout the life of the project.
  • Leads the architectural building design process. Engages the design team, communicates the AHJ and client design expectations and assures the quality of the deliverables to the client.
  • Handles Quality Control of project documents. Is responsible for the deliverables to the client or AHJ.
  • Participates in construction costing, scheduling, and phasing with our internal Cost Management team, the general contractor and the client’s real estate and construction departments.
  • Directly negotiates with the client any scope change and additional services as required.
  • Is responsible for the project financials including invoice review and tracks progress in collections and communicates with client as necessary to collect any aging invoices.
  • Leads client & consultant communication and can speak with confidence and knowledge about the drawings and deliverables.
  • Focuses on team ownership and accountability of projects as well as team dynamics so as to grow communication proficiency with leadership team, client, and project team.
  • Ensures projects begin with a project plan, overall schedule and budget work plan in place.
  • Ensures clear milestones are established, communicated regularly with the client through weekly project status updates and results are achieved by the project team. 
  • Actively engages in mentoring and apprenticeship opportunities and encourages the development of the junior staff. Always working to share their expertise and explain the ‘why’ to colleagues.
  • Travel (1-2-day trips) will be required for attendance at site meetings and presentations to various state and local jurisdictions.
  • Maintains consistent rigor around client and team communications. Holds regular meetings with the client and project teams to assure clarity of scope, that the schedule is being met and the deliverables are of a high quality.

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree of Architecture preferred
