We understand the unique challenges our clients face when integrating environmentally responsible practices, and we have focused our strategic initiatives around solving those challenges.

MG2 & AIA Commitments

Sustainable design is the best way to create healthy, thriving environments, and it’s our responsibility as architects to view our contributions through this lens. That’s why we have chosen to participate in both the AIA 2030 Commitment and the AIA Materials Pledge. The mission of these programs is to transform the practice of architecture to prioritize energy performance, carbon reduction, and more sustainable materials.

By taking a holistic, inclusive, and data-driven approach to addressing sustainability, our industry is collectively moving toward carbon-neutral buildings, developments, and major renovations by 2030.

We have identified four key goals to apply to building performance data from projects across the firm:

1) Operating Energy Optimization

Our goal is to reduce fossil fuel energy consumption for new buildings and achieve net-zero energy by the end of 2030.

2) Embodied Carbon Reduction

Our goal is to reduce embodied carbon emissions for new buildings, renovations, and interiors to allow for zero carbon emissions by 2050.

3) Sustainable Materials Sourcing

MG2 is working closely with dozens of vendors to create a more sustainable specification process for our extensive materials library, following the AIA Materials Pledge guidelines. We want the majority of our specified materials to be from this vetted library by 2030.

4) Water Use Reduction

Our water conservation goal, defined by MG2, is to reduce indoor water use (toilets, faucets, etc.) by 30% and outdoor potable water consumption for landscaping and irrigation by 50% in all applicable projects by the end of 2030.
