Data Centers

MG2 is currently supporting multiple sites for a national sustainable data center client across the U.S., with each project presenting unique structural and operational requirements. Solutions range from precast and concrete tilt-wall construction to pre-engineered metal buildings, selected based on end-user needs and site conditions. In addition to architectural design, MG2 is navigating complex considerations across MEP systems, structural engineering, security, and acoustics. The firm’s role also extends into tenant improvements and broader program planning, demonstrating MG2’s ability to support mission-critical developments at scale while helping clients shape cohesive, forward-looking data center programs.

MG2 partnered with Edged US to develop a sustainable data center campus on more than 80 acres near Atlanta, GA. The campus includes 17 data halls delivering 169 MW of critical data center capacity. Edged US’s advanced closed-loop waterless cooling system supports high-performance operations while saving millions of gallons of water annually by eliminating on-site water consumption. Throughout the design process, MG2 worked closely with the project team to address acoustic performance, implementing strategies to minimize operational noise while maintaining the campus’s efficiency and sustainability goals.

“Data centers are constantly evolving,” says Eric Marks, MG2 Managing Principal in the Washington D.C. office, who has witnessed rapid advancements and changes over the last 20 years. “Edged US is taking mission critical to the next level by incorporating an ultra-efficient waterless cooling system into its latest project in Atlanta.”
