New hospitality project will take guests love of the outdoors to new heights
Seattle-based design firm MG2 has designed two new luxury tree houses for Skamania Lodge, A Destination Hotel located on 175 acres in southern Washington State in the Columbia Gorge canyon. Towering 20-feet high, the tree houses will be easily accessible with attached staircases. Overlooking the Columbia River and the dense forest surrounding the lodge, the cozy spaces can sleep up to four guests. Each is equipped with a large outdoor deck, an indoor-outdoor fireplace, single bathrooms, and a private outdoor-viewing shower. Large windows and openings further ensconce guests in the natural setting. “Simple, yet contemporary in their aesthetic, the designs of the tree houses are meant to connect guests with the beauty of nature,” says MG2 principal Ron Mitchell. “We wanted to create a sense of escapism and fulfill guests’ desires to feel inspired, romantic, or adventurous.” The tree houses are slated to debut this summer.
