Skamania Lodge Adding Two More Tree Houses

June 5, 2017

The Columbia Gorge resort announces it will debut two new MG2-designed tree houses this fall.

Skamania Lodge recently broke ground on two new tree houses, joining the pair that opened last summer.

The 175-acre luxury resort has more than 250 guest rooms and is located 45 minutes east of Portland, along the Columbia River Gorge in the town of Stevenson.

“We’re thrilled at the way our first two tree houses turned out,” said General Manager Ken Daugherty in a statement. “They became so popular we wanted to be able to provide our guests with additional options to truly have that quintessential Columbia River experience.”

The tree houses will be elevated 15-20 feet above the ground, with a large outdoor deck with overlooking the gorge, a fireplace and a “spectacular” bathroom.

MG2 architects is the designer and The Society is doing the interiors. The Society is a new company started in 2016 by Ankrom Moisan to focus on interior design for hotels, resorts and restaurants. Invision Construction is the general contractor.

One difference between the new tree houses and the existing ones is that the new ones are designed for families, with a king-sized bed, a nook with a double bed, and a curtain to divide the space.
