Four Seasons Kyoto

Honoring tradition in modern luxury

Positioned next to a 1,500-year-old temple in the historical district of Kyoto sat a development site that presented both exciting possibilities and unique challenges for hospitality development. Berjaya aspired to develop a luxury resort that captured the essence of the property’s ancient locale, while also appealing to the refined tastes of international tourists. In response, the team’s design employs an understated Japanese aesthetic, fusing traditional and contemporary architectural styles.

The hotel features a glass bridge elevated above over an 800-year-old ikeniwa (pond garden), a traditional tea house, a spa and fitness center, a large banquet hall, and two restaurants to go along with 125 guest rooms and 50 private residences.
