MG2 created a corporate campus for Costco Wholesale that continues to develop in line with the company’s success.
In the mid-1990s, Costco opened its global headquarters campus in Issaquah’s Pickering Place development, which houses retail and office buildings as well as a Costco warehouse. As Costco has grown over the years, the campus has expanded to meet the company’s needs. In 2001, MG2 designed the latest addition with an 180,000-SF office building that includes a two-story lobby, a three-story atrium in the cafeteria, and a skybridge.
With continued growth on the horizon, MG2 and Costco are now expanding on the original master plan for the campus. MG2 has worked closely with Costco throughout the complex process of developing a 30-year agreement with the City of Issaquah that will support the campus expansion while also providing new opportunities for development and infrastructure enhancements in the city.
To address Costco’s forecasted growth and future needs, the new master plan features up to 1.5 million additional square feet of office space. The new buildings may be up to 10-stories tall, requiring an increase in the building height limit under the City’s building code.
