With built-in flexibility and modern design appeal, MG2’s design for 1100 Eastlake in the city’s growing South Lake Union community attracted the region’s leading research organization.

Perched on a bluff in Seattle’s burgeoning South Lake Union community sits 1100 Eastlake, a five-story office and life sciences building surrounded by some of the region’s premiere biotech and research companies.

The design for the multi-functional building — which features laboratory, office, parking, and service retail spaces — balances the familiarity of brick with a modern use of glass. A sleek curved façade distinguishes the building from its neighbors while still blending with the character of the community. Walls of windows and a rooftop deck provide tenants and patrons with expansive views of the lake, Olympic Mountains, and city skyline.

The building’s flexible floorplates, design appeal, and notable amenities attracted Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center as a key tenant. The organization later purchased the building as part of their campus expansion.
